Azure Functions + Table Storage
Customer X utilizes a third-party source of geolocation data to monitor their assets. The data provider’s API delivers the latest position effectively. Historical positions are slower to respond and so does not fulfill the UI/UX standards for responsiveness where the data is shown for the end user.
A serverless data aggregator and query endpoint implemented using on-demand Azure Functions.
Azure Table Storage used as a super cost-effective store of the geo data points.
Customer X obtained a low-cost, maintenance-free solution to their issue:
A NodeJS-based Azure Function was created with the logic for data intake and data display.
Azure Table Storage as a data backend, storing partitioned by rows and keys data, allowing to provide a fast and cost-effective way of storing and rapidly accessing massive amount of geo data points.
A maintenance-free and highly-available solution with monthly cloud resource costs of about $5.
